Life Updates 19/3/25

Writer: L.E. LevensL.E. Levens

Hello friends! It’s definitely been a minute since my last post. I figured that because of that, you may want to know about some life updates for me as well as some blog updates and changes. I also have some exciting announcements and a quick book review for Riveting Reads, so feel free to jump all over this page and read bits and pieces!

Life Updates

I’ve been pretty busy recently with a musical in which I was acting and being the set designer. It turned out to be a really wonderful experience and I’m glad I got to participate. Otherwise it’s just been regular school and such.

My Projects

Because of my busy schedule, and because I tend to hit a slump whenever I finish a project, things have just been slow for me lately. I did finish my WWII Duology in February and sent the first book out to some alpha/beta readers on the Young Writer’s Workshop, and we’ll see where it goes from there!

My main project is to finish a book that I’ve been rewriting since I was eleven. I’m currently calling it Project Erwin (a few of you will recognize the name) and it’s going to be a fantasy series of at least three books centering around a boy, his sister, a rogue Loki-ish character and a family secret.

I’ve also got a retelling side-project based on Alexander Dumas’ The Three Musketeers. It’s been really fun so far. France is a place I’ve touched on in both the WWII duology and the freestanding WWII novel I wrote last year. But the 1700s is simply a different story. The setting is fun to figure out for me, and I intend to put a lot of tasty foods into the plotline.

New Stuff

I’ll just come right out and say it: two blog posts a month has become difficult for me to achieve with school and trying to write so much. I’ll be taking it back a step and releasing one post a month (unless we’re having a competition).

However! You can now find me on three different platforms (as well as The Young Writer’s Workshop).

Goodreads- Here I share occasional book reviews and at times you can see what I’m reading, but be warned: I often forget to change it.

Instagram- This is my primary social media platform as an author now! Here I post about my projects and share about other peoples’! You can find it by typing @l.e.levens_author into the search bar on Instagram, or tapping the link above.

Pinterest- I don’t do much readers-wise. This is mainly just for my own use, but I do keep a faceclaim vault fellow authors are welcome to steal from.

I’d highly recommend following me on these platforms, because as it currently is this will be the easiest way to get updates from me.

I’m also in the midst of fixing some stuff where subscribers are concerned to make my blog more user friendly.

Lastly, there may or may not be a spring writing competition coming up…

New Tales Bulletin

Last month Angie Dickinson released her debut novel, Truth Cursed. While I have not read it yet, I have heard wonderful things about it, and the author is a wonderful person (please go follow her on Instagram)!

This Tuesday (March 18th) Rachelle Nelson (author of Sky of Seven Colors) released her second book, Embergold. It features dragons and mystery and I was so excited that I preordered something for the first time.

Victoria McCombs (author of Mortal Queens) released her next book this past Friday (14th). It’s called Rune and I’ll hopefully be ordering this viking-esque story the moment it is released in paperback.

Way back in January (has it actually been that long?) my friend Maya Pawley released the first of her new fantasy series, The Silverwood Saga, and I was fortunate enough to receive a physical copy for being on her street team. Below you’ll find my review.

And everyone probably recalls that Suzanne Collins (author of the infamous Hunger Games series) released the backstory for Katniss' mentor (entitled Sunrise on the Reaping) on Tuesday.

A Riveting Reads Review

Where the Tunnel Ends is the first book in the Silverwood Saga by Maya Pawley. It tells the story of Laura, who finds a unicorn and a mysterious key and is transported to a magical world where the Darkness is on the rise. This book gave me Lord of the Rings feels, and I’d recommend it for anyone eleven and up.

That’s all for today, folks! Until next time, God keep you, and Ad Lucem.
