Do you ever wonder why you feel so much joy at Christmas?
Why celebrating with family can spark even the smallest bit of hope?
Why when Christmas time rolls around, you can’t help but sing carols?
Or maybe Christmas means stress to you. Trying to find last-minute gifts, cleaning your house for guests. Having to deal with a mess of paper snowflakes, glitter, frosting… the list goes on and on. Maybe Christmas is that time of year when you just want to hide. Pull a blanket over your head and—
Yeah. I get it.
Christmas can be stressful, but it’s my favorite holiday (well, besides Thanksgiving of course. Lol). It’s the time when I get to spend time with family, put in the effort to make them gifts they’ll love. And then there’s our family tradition: decorating Christmas cookies. Every year, my mom makes several batches of cookies and invites a grandparent over to help decorate. The next few hours are filled with frosting, laughter, and joy.
Which gets me to thinking about why we celebrate Christmas. Well, the birth of our savior, of course! Jesus Christ. We need to have joy at the birth of our King. He came to us, born in a manger. How incredible is that?! Joy to the world, the Lord is come. Let earth receive her king! We need to open our hearts to Him, rejoice with our neighbors that Jesus is born! And He has brought us so much joy. You can find it in the closeness of family, in childhood laughter. In rosy cheeks, sibling-hugs. In a family tradition. Let us lift our voices as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Joy to the world!

Joy is something I've noticed people struggling with this year, thanks for sharing!
